The following club members carry out the various roles within our club as voted at the 2009 AGM.

Diving Officer

John Carter (JC) is the Club Diving officer monitors all diving activities within the club ensuring that safe diving practices are adhered to. JC also signs off the various stages of diving qualifications as divers progress through the training. He is also a qualified OWI.

John first became interested in diving at the tender age of 15 watching Jacques Cousteau and World of Survival specials on TV.  During his summer holidays he used to be found snorkelling around the rocks and gullies of Bovisand, South Devon.  Not satisfied with holding his breath, he was bitten by the diving bug and was initially trained 'the old fashioned way' by the BSAC in 1989.  Since then he's progressed his diving to open circuit trimix level and is a qualified open water instructor.  He's upgraded his old snorkel to one that breathes helium.  ;-)

Training Officer

Dave Shaw is the Training Officer for Selby Aquanauts, the remainder of the team can be seen on the training page of this site.

The pool sessions normally start with a Try Dive, which is then followed up by a training session each Thursday evening from 8.00pm in the pool at Abbey Leisure Centre, Selby.

Equipment Officer

Christine Laws is the Equipment Officer for the club.  Christine looks after all of the equipment owned by the club which can be used by trainees.

We maintain 5 sets so that our novices can maintain their training without having to spend money before getting qualified.  One of our members is the MD of  Red Hat Diving . This means we have access to good quality equipment for the club and students can purchase theiir own kit without breaking the bank.
